Miller Financial Research made its reputation providing clients accurate and high quality financial information. Sharon interned with Miller the summer after her junior year, but had not worked with this research team. This team analyzes the technology industry, especially companies developing new technologies. This is her biggest assignment so far, drafting a section of the team report analyzing virtualization technology. Bill, her supervisor, told her last week that he is impressed with her work. He implied that if Sharon does well on this report, he would consider recommending her promotion to financial researcher.
Sharon thinks, "I could turn in something by 9 a.m., but it wouldn't be the quality to convince Bill that I am ready for promotion." She reads a report released late that afternoon from Smith Financial Research. She quickly sees data and analysis that she could use in her report. Several sections present almost exactly the information Bill assigned her to research. There is no way she can write anything as detailed as the Smith report, at least before 9 a.m. tomorrow. Perhaps she could use the Smith data and analysis to meet her 9 a.m. deadline. Her report would impress Bill if she did.
