JAVA

5.20 Lab^: Estimate adult height of child

One way to estimate the adult height of a child is to use the following formulas*:

  • Girls: (Height of Mother + Height of Father - 5) / 2
  • Boys: (Height of Mother + Height of Father + 5) / 2

Write a method estimateAdultHeight() which takes in parameters for height of mother, height of father, and the child's gender. The method returns the estimated adult height for the child.

Assume all heights are in inches.

Your program should then prompt the user for the height of the mother and the father and return the heights for a girl and a boy.

Ex: If the input is:

60 74

The output is:

Girl: 64 Boy: 69

Your program must define and call a method: public static int estimateAdultHeight(int motherHeight, int fatherHeight, boolean isGirl)

Starting out code:

import java.util.Scanner;

public class LabProgram { /* Define your method here */ public static void main(String[] args) { /* Type your code here. Your code must call the method. */ } }
