J-Mart is a Chicago based Departmental store chain established since 1963 that specializes in selling a wide variety of household products. The company has many suppliers to meet the demand of their customers. The company is known for its quality and customer service and had developed strong relationships with their customers over the past 50 years. The company has hired 500 staff members to work in their stores. However, the CEOs of the company Jade and Jamie notice that the world around them have moved far enough in advance with the advent of information technology that they strongly feel that in order to retain their customer base, it is necessary for them to move away from maintaining manual paper records of invoices, sales receipts, salaries of their employees etc and to automate their supply chain, customer relationships and their enterprise-wide systems. They have decided to set aside $1.5M to automate their system and would prefer it to come under budget.

RM Consulting Inc. is a software consulting company hired by Jade and Jamie to help with automation of their system.
