Lab 3 Speed lab Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to find out your walking speed when you walk normally, slow and fast using concepts of Speed. Materials: stopwatch in your cell phone for time, distance measurement using app in your phone Equati : Speed is a scalar quantity. Speed 7 distance covered in meters/time taken in second (5 : d/t) Steps: 1, Find place where you can walk with constant normal speed as you always walk when you go outside. It can be grassy area outside of your home, or walkway around your home or walking from your home to a nearby store or walking from 15' room to the last room inside your home. 2. If you are walking outside of your home. You can use an app that record distance you walk and also tells you time you take to walk. There are several apps that you can nd under \"Gougle Play Store\". The one I have is \"Map My Walk\". It is a free app and you can download in your smart phone. When you use this app, it tells distance you walk in miles and the minimum value ofdistance it records in 0.0] miles. So, you need to walk until you see 0.1 miles and it also tells you time of walk. Record time and distance both in a table. Convert distance from miles to meters and time to seconds. (1 mile = 1609.3 meters). 3. If you have any other walking app, you can use that to nd distance you walk and record time from your phone as stopwatch. You may also use google walking map to see distance you walk. 4, If you are walking inside house from one room to other, or if you have a small house where you have only one room then you can walk from wall of one side to the other side within room but then come back to the same place and then repeat your walk a couple of times from one wall to other wall and use same app to find distance, and walk at least for 0.02 miles. Record time too. 5. IMPORTANT: it is important that you walk with constant speed and do not change your speed while you walk. 6. Record your data ofdistance you walk, and time taken in walk with normal speed. Then repeat the same experiment 4 more times to walk almost same distance with same speed and record data of distance and time. 7 Then make a data table in excel for this experiment. The table will look like this: # Trials Distance (meter) Time (second) Speed = m/s, (5 = d/t) 8. You will repeat steps from 1-7 for slow walk and record data in a new data table for slow speed. 9. You will repeat steps from 1-7 for fast walk and record data in a new data table for fast speed. 10. Now create a nal table where you will show average values of speed for normal, slow and fast seed. Type of walk Your average speed of Standard walking speed of walkin ; adult fast 11. You can search on intemet for values of walking speed for an adult and record them in the nal table. 12.Compare your speed of walking with the walking speed of an adult you searched from internet. Write it in conclusion. NOTE: If you do not have smart phone, you can use measuring tape to measure distance and walk inside of your house. Record time using your simple phone as stopwatch
