Miracle Grow Company has begun to automate its new packaged plant product. It began with petunias and posies, and plans to expand later to include zinnias and geraniums. The petunia and posy packaging line begins with the arrival of material kits. These kits come three to a box, and each box includes the paper packages, the potting soil, and the seeds needed. For both the petunias and posies, a single human operator fills the paper package with the right amount of potting soil, plants the seeds in the soil and places the plastic cover adjacent to the paper package. Once the petunias or posy seeds are planted in potting soil, the paper package and plastic lid is passed to a glue machine which glues the plastic lid onto the paper package. Table 1 below represents this set of processes, with each time in minutes.

Sometimes the gluing machine drips extra glue on the package. This happens in one out of 10 packages. If this extra glue event happens, then a worker with a razor knife cuts the extra glue off the package. This takes UNIF(5, 6) minutes. Sometimes, the extra glue is excessive, and the package must be put into the trash. This event happens for 1 out of every five packages that the worker with the razor knife tries to salvage.

Miracle Grow also wants to know how long each package is in process from arrival into the manufacturing system to being shipped. Record these in process times. Also, change the petunias units to a red ball and the posy units to a blue ball.

The factory works two eight hour shifts per day. Run thirty days of operation as separate replications.
