My personal feeling about evaluations are mixed. I feel positively in that evaluations are necessary, important and useful. Evaulations provide an opportunity for positive change by the individual being evaluated and the whole work environment. The negaitve feelings I get from being evaluated is the feeling of being judged. It is difficult sometimes to put personal feelings aside and remind yourself that you are being evaluated on a professional level and on work performance, not your worth or practice as a person. The evaluator sets the tone and the tension level during an evaluation. An evaluator who is an effective leader can set a tone that sets the evaluatee at ease. My feeling is that when it is clear that you are being critiqued by an evaluator, leader, director or whomever it may be, for reasons to make a team more effective, is that it is easier to receive and process the information into positive action. I think an evaluator who comes across as strictly authoritarian, or from an angle of not also acknowledging positive attributions, should expect a negative response. do you agree or disagree
