NSW Department of Education is planning to construct a new school building in Bella Vista to address the education needs of the growing community in the area. The new 2 storey building will include a reception, large multi-purpose hall, classrooms, gym, kitchen, changing areas, toilets, ICT suite, staff area and general purpose areas/open spaces. The building is a steel frame structure with in-situ concrete ground floor slab. The external envelope comprises a mix of facing brick, curtain walling and aluminium roof cladding. Internally, underfloor heating will be incorporated throughout the building with the fit out specification. To meet the project's environmental sustainability objectives initiatives such as stormwater capture and reuse; photovoltaic cells; passive heating and cooling achieved through correct solar orientation, effective insulation and appropriate ventilation such as turbo vents; and flued gas heating were implemented.
