O Geoff, afarmer from Orange, signed an agreement with Tractors R Us Pty Ltd for the purchase of a John Deere 8260R tractor for $100,000. Just prior to the parties signing the agreement, Geoff added in his handwriting to the contract the following words \"Subject to the purchaser being able to raise the money at satisfactory rates in the next four weeks ." Over the next three weeks Geoff's wife became seriously ill and was admitted to Royal North Shore Hospital. While he was away from the farm some crises broke out and he had to travel back to Orange from Sydney several times. He only managed to visit the Commonwealth Bank branch in North Sydney and spoke to one of the lending officers. He thought at the time the rates they were offering for a loan were a bit high. Reading the March 2019 online edition of This Farming Life later that day, he saw a large banner advertisement for the credit provider Farm Finance. Had he looked online at farmfinance.com.au he would have found finance for the amount he needed for 1.5% less than the Commonwealth Bank were offering.
