One Thursday evening, Milton visits Trevor, the Manager of a well-established bike store named Downhill Dirt Cycles. Milton is a regular customer of the store and has purchased bikes and accessories from Trevor previously. Milton wants to purchase a new bike and settles on a mountain bike for $1,650.00. The warranty period on the bike is 6 months. Milton takes the bike home and uses it twice in six months and after the warranty has expired, the frame cracks and breaks. The bike cannot be repaired. Milton then returns the bike to Downhill Dirt Cycles and complains to Trevor. Trevor is sympathetic to Milton but directs his attention to a large sign at the store's entrance which states, This store will not be liable for any damage to bikes outside the warranty period."
