Part 3: Read the following report, which is again a fictionalized report making use of actual studies (in this case over 20 years old), then answer the questions below.
Media reports on the effects of divorce often focus on the negative effects of divorce on women and children, which are often taken to be a consequence of the negative economic effects of divorce on them (while men tend to become better off financially after divorce). But a meta review, in which the Institute for Taking a Second Look at the Research reviewed several earlier studies, finds that in spite of their improved financial situation men suffer more from marital breakdowns than do women.
One survey of recently divorced American couples found that only one third of men reported that they wanted the divorce, while women reported actively seeking the divorce 60% of the time. In another survey, thousands of divorced North Americans were interviewed one year, then again 10 years after divorce. They found that after one year 60% of women reported being happier after the divorce, while only 50% of the men said so. After 10 years, 80% of women said the divorce was the right decision, while only 1/3 of men said so.

2. The first paragraph of this report attributes a causal claim to the researchers. What is the causal claim? Assuming that the researchers really did make this causal claim, does the evidence described support that claim? Explain.
