Part II Practical Application (70 points total) The part requires you to think critically about your dataset. This in an individual assignment with your own dataset and not a group assignment.
  1. Why did you select your dataset for your semester project topic (i.e. what is the problem you are hoping to solve from the dataset you selected)? Include the URL for your dataset so I can access it directly on the web.
  1. Explain your dataset in terms of basic demographics (descriptive statistics with up to 5 attributes).
  1. Using your dataset as a starting point, determine what you plan to use for your nodes and edges. Create a nodes csv and an edges csv.
  1. Import both the nodes and edges csv files into Gephi. Confirm that you can produce a social network diagram. Your dataset can be small (i.e. 10 nodes+) so consider filtering for this assignment. Include the link to the original dataset, your nodes and edges files along with your Gephi project.
Note: In your Gephi project, I am only looking at the import function of your nodes and edges files and that you are able to create a social network diagram. I'm not grading how your social network diagram looks or the other details that are part of your final semester project. Please go back to the first five chapters of our book and the recordings by Golbeck. You need to draw your diagrams correctly. Most for part I of the midterm were incorrect. I am not taking many points off of part I because I consider it early thinking and the exam was for just the class period with less information.
