Exercise 1: Two SW Calgary neighborhoods (West Springs and Aspen Woods) share a school district - Webber Academy, an expensive private school. Let the W/ denote the average annual household income of Aspen Woods and /2 the average annual household income for West Springs. The hypotheses that a market analyst wishes to test is Ho: HI = /2 Ha: 1 # M2. Based on independent samples of 65 households from each of the two neighborhoods, the analysts calculated the following summary measures (in thousands of dollars): x1 = 103.6 and s1 = 8.5, x2 = 98.4 and $2 = 6.5. Assume that the distribution of household income from these two neighborhoods are left-skewed. However, large samples allow them to perform a two-sample z test for equality of average household income. At the 5% significance level is there evidence for the difference in average household income in the two neighborhoods
