PLEASE REPLY WITH SCREENSHOTS OF ARENA PROCESS/MODULES. WE ARE ANALYZING A SMALL LOCAL COFFEE SHOP FOR THIS PROJECT.
1. Adequately model and simulate a business process or system.
2. Modify your model with a theoretical change and assess the effect of the change. If you are re-configuring resources you must use the Process Analyzer to examine the different scenarios.
3. Develop the Model and then Improve Model and Present Term Project, Model and Conclusion in a Power Point Presentation to be recorded using Zoom. Pick a business or business process that you are familiar with or would simply like to model. Model it using Arena. Use the model to learn something about the business or process.
Presentation: Your presentation should be a power point and include the following:
In the introduction, explain in detail the system you have modeled. In the main body, explain each of the modules used in the model including why they are used and why there are certain values set in those modules. For example, in a process module, how many resources are used, why that many resources are used, what the delay type is, why that delay type was chosen, etc. Explain the like modules in the same section. For example, if you use a process module more than once in the model, explain each of the process modules in one section. Explain how the entities move through the system/model. This includes where they enter the system, exit from the system, any batching, any separating, different processes they go through, different modules they go through, where the performance measures are captured in the model, etc. Pick at least one performance measure that can be improved and explain what changes can be made in the model to improve it.
Use the Process Analyze or Optquest to analyze and quantify the effect of the proposed change(s). In the conclusion section, interpret what you understand from the output. You will see a number of other performance measures in addition to what you defined in the model. Compare the performance measure(s) before and after making the changes in the model.
MODEL: There are 4 specific requirements for your project model (A - D below):
A. Your model must be at least 12 modules in size. B. You must use at least 3 "advanced features" in your model. I do not mean modules from the Advanced Process Panel. Examples of advanced features are:
1. Use of schedules anywhere in the model
2. Non-stationary Poisson process for inter-arrivals (page 239)
3. Algebraic expression executed anywhere in the model (like a decision by condition instead of chance) (queue balance) etc
4. Advanced graphics (like imported pictures, queue manipulation)
C. You must animate ALL the resources in your model.
D. You must use at least one graphic indicator in your model (chart, dial indicator, histogram etc...)
DATA: You MUST collect and analyze (with the Input Analyzer)
How much is enough? How many points do I have to collect? The INPUT ANALYZER will tell you that. You need to have enough data to have good p-values. You will likely need a MINIMUM of 30 data points per set. If your p-values are low or there are none you need to get more data.
