At this point in my life and education, I can see how often marginal analysis is utilized in every day life. The purpose or goal of why an individual would use a decision making tool such as marginal analysis is because they want to determine if the costs due to the decision will result in benefits sufficient enough to offset the costs. The first example I would like to share is related to my credit card debt. Over the Summer, I naturally incurred some credit card debt, now the analysis comes when the time came to pay my credit card and my car payment at the end of the month. I did not have enough to fully pay both; instead, I analyzed the cost of not paying each payment. My credit card is fairly new and I am still under a 0% interest for 15 first months. Not paying my credit card would not cost me financially. Whereas, if I did not pay my car payments, my vehicle would be repossessed. After the analysis, I decided it was best to take all the money I was going to put towards the credit card that month and put it all towards the car payment to avoid any future conflicts.

Another example related to my life had to do with playing football. I graduated this last Spring and could have completely done with school. In regards to football I still had 2 years of eligibility and 2 years of scholarship left. Now comes the decision, hang up the cleats peacefully, be done with school, save my body, BUT lose out on a good scholarship. Or, utilize the scholarship, but at the cost of my body being beat up for a couple more years and losing a significant amount of my time towards the football team. At the end of the day, I felt I would be leaving too much money on the table and decided to play ball. Now, here I am in my masters classes!
