Revenue and Expense, GROSS PROFIT, R.O.S.& R.O.I. Exercise Case Study Car Wash Assignment. Read over carefully and critically before completing the attached Worksheet. You and your classmates are planning a Fundraising Event to raise money for the local food bank. You have decided to organize a community car wash on an upcoming Saturday in June. The labour is free (volunteers) and you've been able to secure a free space in the north parking lot at Devonshire Mall You've decided to operate your charity car wash from 10 am to 6pm (8 hours) You have set up two wash areas and you have determined that you can wash 3 cars per hour in each of the areas. You are charging $ 10 for an outside wash and $ 20 for inside and outside cleaning) According to your research of similar events, about 50% of your customers choose inside and outside service. You will assign 3 people per car, and each volunteer will split the hours, working 4 hours each. You have determined that you will need two large wash pails per wash area at a cost of $ 5 each (taxes included) You will need four car washing mitts per area @ $ 4 per mitt. The detergent (soap) required is sold in a large container at $150. (taxes included) - enough for the entire event. You will also require two hoses @ 27 dollars each (taxes included) Water is free, courtesy of Devonshire Mall. You have decided to rent an industrial vacuum for each wash area. ($30 each) You will run power from Devonshire Mall at no charge (donated) You plan set up a donation box for each wash area. Research says that 50% of your customers will donate an average of $5. per customer. You will also sell pop. Charging $2 per can. A (24 cans) case of pop will cost 6.00 (taxes included) You have determined that one in four customers will buy a can of pop. The local pizza shop has agreed to provide lunch for the volunteers at a cost of $100. (n/c to volunteers) Left over pop will also be given to volunteers (no charge to volunteers) Metro Grocery Store has donated $300 to your car wash. Promotional / Sponsor signage (large banner) will cost $ 90
