Suppose you are a network administrator of the ABC company. The company has two local departments: HR and Finance. As a network administrator, you are asked to redesign the network so that all systems can access the Internet using a single ISP connection. The following details the individual requirements of each department. 1. HR department: This network will have 10 PCs, one IP phone and one wireless printer. All computers must be connected to the Internet. More devices can be added to this network in future. 2. Finance department: This network will have 12 PCs, 2 IP phones, 1 wireless printer and 1 scanner. All computers must be connected to the Internet. The systems must be secure and reliable. More devices can be added to this network in future. 3. Assume that all end devices support IP addresses. 4. In the following network diagram, PC-A is connected to the HR department whereas PC-B is connected to the Finance department. PC-A Fa0 .10 Fa0/5 S1 192.168.1.0/24 Gigo/1 192.168.3.0/30 Se0/0/0, Gig0/0 Se0/0/0) R1 R2 Gigo/0 Gig0/1 Fa0/5 $2 192.168.2.0/24 Figure: Existing network architecture 10 Fao PC-B Your Tasks: 1. Modify the network architecture so that all devices can be connected to the Internet. You must try to keep the changes minimal. [Hints: The Week 8 lab on "Testing Network Connectivity with Ping and Traceroute" can be helpful in designing the network.] (5 marks). 2. Assign IP addresses for all devices and interfaces. For a network, you need to assign IP addresses for only the first host and the last host. For example, if a network has 20 host computers/ end devices, you need to assign IP address for only the first device and the last device. Provide a complete table of addressing including Device name, Interface, IP address, Subnet mask and Default gateway (5 marks). 3. For each network device (5 marks): o Configure the device name O Secure privileged EXEC mode with password class O Secure user EXEC mode with password cisco 00000 00 4. Enable remote SSH access to switch S2 (3 marks): Domain: ccna-lab.com 0 Encryption type rsa modulus 1024 00 Secure remote Telnet/SSH access with password cisco Prevent unwanted DNS lookups Secure all passwords in the configuration file Configure a banner message Save the configuration 000 Username admin Password adminpass 5. Test connectivity by (4 marks): Ping PC-B from PC-A Use SSH to remotely access S2 from PC-A Use telnet to remotely access R1 from PC-B [N.B. Your packet tracer file will be checked to assess task 1-5.] Answer the following questions based on your network design: 1. Identify the protocols and their functionalities that are used at different layers of the TCP/IP model. You need to identify at least two protocols for each layer that can be used to send and receive data packets between two devices in your network (4 marks). 2. Effective network design takes a number of critical factors in consideration such as cost, time, scalability and sustainability. How an effective network design can have positive effects in our social life and to the environment (4 marks)?
