The philosophical roots of Marxism stem from Karl Max and his friend, Frederich Engels. In "The Communist Manifesto", they discuss that the history and progress can be seen dialectically as societies shift from one mode of production to another. According to Marx, society is shaped by a mode of production and are based upon the individual's economic class (Pease, 2019). The means of production are the resources that are needed to provide goods and service. Marx views economics as the driving force of society and politics, as he argues that each mode of production contains within itself the contradictions that will eventually lead to its collapse
