The Regal Diva's Wardrobe, a dressmaking boutique in Toronto, agreed to make Rachel's wedding dress for $8,000. The dress was supposed to be ready for Rachels wedding on August 1st. Rachel and Regal Diva Wardrobe made a verbal contract. Unfortunately, due to a shortage of skilled dressmakers in Toronto, Regal Diva experienced difficulties with recruiting qualified staff. On July 14th, Janet, the owner of Regal Diva Wardrobe called Rachel to tell her that the dress would not be ready on time unless Rachel agreed to pay an extra $2,000 so that Janet could hire someone at twice the regular hourly wage to help her finish the lace embroidery. Rachel was very upset, and feeling that she had no other choice, agreed. On August 1, when Rachel picked up the dress, she told Janet that she did not think that it was fair that she should have to pay more than they had agreed upon and refused to pay the additional $2,000.
Janet was furious and said, But Rachel agreed to pay the additional $2,000!
Can Janet take legal action against Rachel for the additional $2,000 (yes or no)? Why or why not? Define any legal concept or term that you use.
