Think about your communities. Are there notable icons (buildings, statues, natural landmarks, parks, etc.) that seem to define your community? Do you participate in the arts in any way? It is important to note that sports can have the same unifying effect. Do you participate in community sports? Do you have to pay to play, or are there free activities available? If you do participate in community arts andactivities, do you think it gives you a stronger sense of belonging? Does it seem symbolic of the positive aspects of your community? If you do not participate in community arts and activities, do you feel more isolated from others? Does your community seem less safe, less welcoming?
