This class has reminded me of how important it is to have an attorney when you are in business for yourself or involved with a business with other companies. I'm currently involved with a company that has given me permission in contract to use their logo and trademarks along with my promoting and advertising. I also have my own company, a small limited liability corporation and I create my own promotional writings and advertising ideas in which some have to be presented to the company for permission. I worked a long time alongside this company and produced a lot of materials for advertising in promoting to a point where I'm not sure if I will be given full credit for some of the marketing ideas that I'm using to promote their products and services.

This is some type of intellectual property that is very valuable to me and can be used to make the company more profitable but I'm not sure if it belongs to me as a distributor or should I just use it for the company that I'm promoting.

Like if you come up with a great idea on how to sell someone else's products and they give you a small percentage of the sales like any other representative of their company.

I also have a father who is elderly and who has written a lot of notes which I would like compile into a book but at this time he has become elderly and legally is not in charge of his estate, but I would like to get my hands on his intellectual property and use it to make a book to publish. He is legally defined as in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. I'm not sure is it okay for me to ask his wife and my sister who's in charge of his estate to be legally given these writings and will I have permission to claim them as my own for publishing rights? A lot of these questions I need to present in front of an attorney. I'm not really sure how I would dispose of intellectual properties or protect them maybe a trust of some type.
