The primary objective of this term project is to allow you to apply your emerging knowledge of international project management concepts toimprove the likelihood of success for international projects. The secondary objective of this project is to give you the opportunity to develop the following competences: research skills by undertaking some secondary research; analytical skills by learning to analyze and interpret information; writing skills by preparing a written case report; and promotion (i.e. selling) presentation and technical skills by producing a media product to sell your recommendations to senior management. INSTRUCTIONS: For this project, you will develop a project plan, and execute the initial stages, for a post COVID-19 Outbound International Trade Mission covering numerous countries (as many countries as there are term project team members) for a selection ofCanadian businesses and investors. Your proposal will highlight the following: You are to decide on your roles in this project and to yourselves where each team member represents a major stakeholder in one of the countries/ Your choice of countries should be such that the cultural distances are significant. Each team member will therefore operate according to the national cultural expectations and - where possible - time zone limitations of the country she/he represents. You may use the proposal form provided in the 'Term Project and Drop Box Room' folder. As typical of international projects you are to communicate virtually. The current situation isideal for this arrangement. Ensure, however that there is no direct personal contact whatsoever. Employing the Cultural Gap Tool, you will: 1. Identify and describe the challenges and barriers, more specifically the project risks thatthe project and its stakeholders are likely to encounter in undertaking this project; 2. Identify and recommend what strategies the international project team and stakeholders should adopt to insure project success; 3. Identify the main lessons/conclusions that are to be drawn for international project managers in general; and 4. Explain what you as International Project Management students have learned, especially with regard to you having to work virtually rather than meeting face-to-faceon this project.
