With regard to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the International Association of Chiefs of Police recommends that police obtain a search warrant before using a UAV for investigative purposes police significantly expand use of UAVs for monitoring and investigation police use UAVs carrying nonlethal weapons when apprehending dangerous suspects officers operating UAVs should be licensed pilots to reduce ricks of civil liability
