Workshop 7: Multi-voting or Nominal Group Technique

The tools practiced in this workshop are:

• Brainstorming
• Multi-voting
• Nominal group technique

Situation:

Consider that you/your group works for the City of Houston metropolitan area and you have been tasked with increasing community volunteering for local emergency services organizations such as Community Emergency Response Teams, Medical Reserve Corps, and other Citizens Corps groups. In the Improve phase of your Lean Six Sigma project, you need to identify methods for motivating the public. So, you decide to creatively brainstorm ideas for motivating the public with the assistance of some of your co-workers (if not working in a group for this Workshop, be sure to collect some creative ideas from others). Then, you will use multi-voting or nominal group technique to determine the idea(s)/solution(s) you will implement in your organization to increase community volunteering.

Instructions:

Use information from your training manual in Improve Phase - Lessons 5-6 to assist you with the activities that follow. Be sure to follow the "best practices" for each tool you use in this workshop.

Activities:
