You have been employed as a business analyst for OK Computer. You have been asked to step in and take on a new client (Lotus Flowers) who requires a system to manage the sales of their Fake Plastic trees. The Client has had a negative experience with the prior analyst who they felt did not include them in decision making. They are now hypersensitive and want to approve each project stage.
With increased uncertainty around in-office watering, sales to corporate clients are exceeding 30,000 units, and each delighted customer is further requesting new product (plant) lines. Lotus Flowers feels they have outgrown their Google Sheets. The move to a new system is spearheaded by the CEO; 49% of the team would like to continue with Google Sheets. The existing system has the CEO climbing up the walls as she cannot easily measure performance and is convinced she is losing data. Lotus Flowers has little to no knowledge about databases, let alone the different types of databases in the market. They are experts in, and know everything there is to know about, plants and plastics.
As a Business Analyst, you are being asked to "guide" the Client in their decision between the use of a Relational or Object Oriented Database. Please design and record a 5 to 7 minute business presentation outlining the recommendation from your firm, Ok Computer (Google Sheets, Relational Database, Object Oriented Database, Other).
Within this pitch:
outline your assumptions re: the business requirements (in the format of your requirements course);
outline which solution best meets these requirements (reflect on solution design from your solutions course - ensure it ties back to the requirements);
explain how this database type works (remember your audience, describe it so someone not in the course would understand);
explain why other the options would not work (remember your audience, describe it so someone not in the course would understand);
determine 5 key decisions the client will need to make that will inform the setup of this solution
