An experiment conducted at Pennsylvania State University was designed to evaluate the effects of irrigation and fertilizers on poplar tree growth. Two different sites were used: (1) rich and moist; (2) sandy and dry. Each of the two sites were partitioned into four blocks, and each block was given one of the following: 

(1) No treatment

(2) Fertilizer

(3) Irrigation

(4) Fertilizer and irrigation.
