The eighteenth-century craft society placed emphasis on knowing many parts of a craft business. In today’s civil engineering profession, specialization of knowledge is highly regarded. To expand to a strategic business perspective, does specialization of knowledge need to be reduced, and if so, to what degree will future organizations reflect the eighteenthcentury craft business?
