Nonverbal variables are critical to effective delivery.

Physical delivery includes a speaker’s gestures, movement, and posture. Eye contact is perhaps the most important delivery variable, determining to a large extent your credibility with your audience. Facial expression plays a key role in expressing thoughts, emotions, and attitudes. Vocal delivery includes such elements as volume, pitch, rate, and articulation. Finally, your personal appearance can affect how your audience responds to you and your message.
