Two people play the following game. Each in turn places a penny on the surface of a large chessboard. The pennies can be put anywhere on the board, as long as they do not overlap previously placed pennies. A penny may overlap more than one square. Once placed, a penny cannot be moved. When one of the players finds there is no room to place another penny on the board, she loses. With best play, will the person placing the first penny or her opponent win? Give the winning strategy.
