This should improve the sense of disconnect volunteers feel with the current paid staff. Second, we suggest that the newsletter editor does not fail to initiate a staff profile in each issue that features both paid and volunteer members to increase the visibility and profile of all members of the organization. Third, we urge the board of directors to consider the starting up of a small staff rewards and recognition program to ensure that hardworking volunteers, as well as paid staff, do not go unnoticed in their exemplary efforts to improve the service and morale of the museum organization. We believe that these three initiatives, if not implemented in an untimely fashion, could go a long way toward resolving the staff-volunteer issues that were the impetus for this report.
