5. Feedback is an integral part of the innovation process; it is not a once-a-year occurrence.

Many organizations have annual reviews, and some have quarterly reviews. Most organizations and managers do not examine the lessons learned from the last project, do not provide positive feedback, and do not make sure feedback is acted upon. In other words, in most organizations, time is spent measuring outcomes, but then little is done with the information gathered. A successful evaluation and control system collects information, verifies it, makes decisions based on it, and spurs activities to improve the processes and products of the organization.
