Working with a classmate, telephone two or three large hospitality operations in your area and interview the human resources director. Specifically, you would like to know what kinds of information the facility is allowed to provide when a potential employer calls to check the references of a previous employee. Interview the owner or manager of two or three small, independent operations. What kinds of information do these individuals normally provide with respect to the preceding text. How do the larger operation and the smaller operation compare? What are the benefits of providing limited information on previous employees? Are there any drawbacks and, if so, to whom? Be prepared to share your findings with the rest of the class.
