Belief The first dimension of organizational cynicism, belief, arises when an employee concludes the organization is lacking in truth, fairness, honesty, or sincerity. Maybe the company is an employee-abusive organization. Perhaps it engages in unethical business or communication practices. (See Chapter 2 for more on business ethics.) Or perhaps it regularly cuts corners to get products or services to market faster. Employees who witness this behavior for a period of time will begin to see this organizational behavior as the norm, and many employees may come to believe the organization lacks integrity.
