I have less score on this assessment; therefore, to be a good follower in the future, I will work hard to adjust to the work environment. I'll focus on skills like active listening, collaborative cooperation, and creativity, which will help me demonstrate my capacity to think outside the box and give a distinct point of view to produce new ideas, which is required of a good follower. Taking on additional duties and inspiring my team members will demonstrate my ability to achieve even if a leader is not there. This would also assist me in honing my leadership abilities.
In the second assessment of team player, I scored 6, which I believe that also less to be effectively working in a team. Working in a group is cumbersome as every team member has their way of doing things, and sometimes some people don't work and get a free ride. I need to become a part of teams and figure out something to become an effective team player because, in the future, we need to deal with various people, and that too in a team. But good team players share their expertise, experience, and information with the rest of the team and take the initiative to keep the rest informed. Good team players don't hide vital knowledge from themselves to advance individually. They don't regard information as a power source; therefore, they keep it to themselves.
I scored good insurgency and conscientiousness in my previous assessments, too, and I think I have a high need for power and achievement; maybe that is why I wouldn't say I like to work in a group. I believe that people will make things worse, and they sometimes don't pay attention to the work that will be given in a group. So, it's better to work individually rather than working in a group. For example, in my course, we usually have group work, and I have seen that only one or two people work assiduously; others get free marks for doing nothing.
I need to improve my score as a team player, which I think I can only accomplish by setting a SMART goal.
SMART GOAL: My improvement area is teamwork skills, and my goal is to improve my teamwork skills by exchanging ideas with my teammates and applying a collaborative approach. I will also accommodate people with different ideas to build an innovative, effective, and satisfied team. I will do this by mid-July, and my friend (Balwinder Singh) will provide me feedback on whether I am working well in the group.
