Objectives: 1. Become familiar with highway geometric design concepts; and 2. Apply highway design theories (Chapters 2 through 3) to solve simple real-world problems. Description: Your team is tasked with designing a basic horizontal and vertical alignment for a curved-ramp providing access from a surface street to a northbound bridge crossing of a river in a city. When the design is complete, you will see what effect your design may have on vehicle performance. Figure 1 shows the actual design on the left and a schematic of your design with key points marked and arrows denoting the direction of travel.
