This task will require you to develop a Networking Maintenance Plan for existing business relationships based on your workplace/organisation's networking objectives, strategy, and policies and procedures.

Use your workplace/organisation's template to implement this task.

To implement this task, you must:

  • Access and review your workplace/organisation's goal, strategy, objectives, and policies and

procedures related to networking.

  • Identify at least one networking goal, at least one networking strategy, at least two networking objectives, and at least two networking policies and procedures of the organisation.

A networking goal is the outcome that is to be achieved. A networking strategy is the approach to be taken to achieve the goal. Networking objectives are steps to be taken implement the strategy.

  • Identify at least three existing business relationships for networking maintenance.

Business relationships may include but are not limited to influencers, suppliers, customers, business partners, or new business contacts that you engaged with.

  • For each business relationship, identify the networking strategy and networking objective they align with.

These must correspond to the organisational networking strategy and objectives you identified earlier.

  • For each business relationship, record the outcome of the previous contact, including:
    • Subject matter of discussion
    • Agreed next steps on developing the business relationship
    • Confirmed communication channels for future correspondence
    • Agreed next date of contact

These details must be consistent with the records of previous contact with the existing business relationship you submit as supplementary evidence.

  • Evaluate the identified business relationships by determining the strategic importance of maintaining a business relationship with them. For each business relationship:
    • Identify at least one pro (benefit) and one con (disbenefit) of maintaining a strategic business relationship.
    • Determine if the business relationship has a strategic importance by judging whether the pros outweigh the combined cons.
  • Evaluate the identified business relationships by determining the value of collaboration opportunities with them. For each business relationship:
    • Identify at least one collaboration opportunity.

These are opportunities to work together which can deliver substantial benefits such as providing your organisation with access to new markets, reducing your organisation's time-to-market, and increasing your organisation's business value over time.

  • Identify at least one pro (benefit) and one con (disbenefit) of the collaboration opportunity.
  • Identify at least one unpredictable problem and one risk of the collaboration opportunity.
  • Identify at least one mitigation action plan to address each identified unpredictable problems and risk.
  • Determine if the collaboration opportunity has a positive value by judging whether the benefits outweigh the combined cons, unpredictable problems, and risks.
  • Select at least two business relationships for maintaining a strategic business relationship.

Business relationships selected must have a strategic importance and/or a collaboration opportunity with a positive value.

  • Schedule a time and date for establishing contact with each selected potential business contact based on the networking plan.

Implement this in order of when you will contact each one.

  • Outline the sources of information used in preparing the plan and identify the type of information sourced.

Sources of information may include workplace/organisational documents specifying networking objectives, networking strategy, and networking policies and procedures. They may also include information from industry websites relevant to business networking, and online sources used to identify information for identifying business networking methods.
