The process of Customer Discovery is a three-part process. In this first step, you willplanhow to Get in Frontof your Customers!

In this assignment, youwilldeterminethe best approach to get appropriate data from your potential customers. This could include a questionnaire (online or in-person), focus group, prototype demonstration (video or live), or another method. Discuss the pros and cons.

You should determine and communicate the number of customers you need to give you usable results. This may range from 3-4 for an industrial product, to several hundred for a consumer product. In other words, you might need to interview more or numerous participants to get significant results to guide your decisions for your customer discovery, and this step will help you define what level should be the target. However, for the second part of this assignment, you will likely pursue a subset of this target due to the limited timeframe of the course and this deliverable. Remember that real data will be a better guide for your project, especially if you are thinking of continuing this idea beyond the class.

Be creative and aggressive in this approach, especially inplanning accessto potential customers in your target markets. Are there trade groups that can help you? School groups?
