One role-play technique that could be used is supplementary role play, such as doubling—for example, a group of parents of preschool children with hearing loss. As a parent, trying to care for a preschool-age child with hearing loss can be a significant challenge. It can affect the communication between parent and child, stress, anxiety, depression, isolation, loneliness, and pressure. Rena (1998) states that "difficulties can be an emotional burden on the parents and create increasing sense of fatigue and burnout. Most parents find few channels through which to express these feelings" .
