In writing your response, consider the following points, although other details may be mentioned as well:

Is the melody memorable?

Is the rhythm stimulating? Is it instead in the background of the piece?

Are the tone colors, i.e. the choice of voice and/or instruments, effective for the piece?

Is the use of harmony appealing?

Are the dynamics, i.e. loudness and softness, interesting?

Is the tempo at which the piece is performed appropriate?

Is the form of the composition easy to understand and follow?

Was there much dissonance in the music?
