I am the CTO of wicked-rugby.com. We are a popular social networking site focused on rugby around the world. Our site provides fans of rugby all the latest news and stats from the various leagues. We also provide our users the ability to create personal profile pages, build friend networks, and upload and share photos and videos.

Our user base is split between the US (30%), Europe (50%), and Asia (20%). Our current hosting provider is located in the US and all of our servers are physical servers located at their facility in Dallas, TX. Were looking for a way to keep costs down while specifically improving the availability and performance of our web application. We currently have 2 million unique users but expect to grow to 10 million unique users in the next 12 months. We are interested in learning more about cloud computing and how your technology can help us.

Current wicked-rugby.com HW Environment:

The Database (DB) Cluster: 4 Red Hat (RH) Linux Servers in DB cluster (2 master: 1 active and 1 passive, 2 slaves). These occupy a 160 GB volume. A 40 GB DB replicated across 4 servers.

DB servers have 14GB Mem/ 2 procs, 2 cores per

Web/App Cluster: 16 RH Linux Servers in a farm. PHP/Apache running on open source MVC framework (symfony).

Web servers have 1.5GB Mem/ 1 GHz proc

Local Media Storage: 1 TB volume containing local copies of media content. Media storage server has 14GB Mem/ 2 procs, 2 cores per

Load Balancing: Use F5 hardware for Load balancing and would need to ensure that we have comparable service on AWS.

Backups provided by hosting service.

Content Delivery Provider: Currently Akamai (contract expires in 6 months). Used for video and static content delivery currently handles 8TB of delivery/month.

Total costs are currently $25,000 month. ($15,000 for hosting, $10,000 for Akamai).
