Physician 1 We immunize newborns all the time. I'd I am quite uncomfortable with the idea of vaccinating my baby just two days after she is born. Why should I immunize her against Hepatitis B (HepB) right now? There is nothing to worry about. Physician 1 Beth Beth But she is so small and fragile. She can actually endure more than you think. I am sure you are fight but I prefer to wait on this. Physician 2 I understand that everything looks new and scally, I know you are affaid for your daughter. However, vaccines are safe and effective. We immunize many newborns every day. Beth But why do we need to do it now? Physician 2 The first dose of the HepB vaccine is recommended at birth. Also, the sooner you do it, the faster you will get used to the idea of immunization. This would be better for your baby. You want her to be protected from serious diseases as soon as possible. What else can I tell you to address your concerns? Would you like to speak with someone else, as for example one of our nurse practitioners who also handles a lot of vaccinations? Beth No, it's OK. You convinced me. Thank you for taking the time. Let's vaccinate her.
