The more freedom, the less equality. The more equality, the less freedom. People want both but it's a dilemma since one limits the other. Western countries favour more freedom. With the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the Chinese chose more equality. We value equality in the West as well but think of it in terms of 'equality of opportunity' (with access to education being the great equalizer).
